About Altadena 

Altadena is an unincorporated area in the County of Los Angeles, California, lying in the San Gabriel Valley along the rich apron of the soaring San Gabriel mountains. It is bounded on the west by the Arroyo Seco and Oak Grove Park; on the east by Eaton Canyon, and on the south by the City of Pasadena.

Approximately 8 square miles. 

Population

Altadena is a multi-ethnic, cross-cultural community with over 42,000 residents.

800 to 2,000 feet above sea level 

Climate

Mediterranean-type climate with less evening fog than lower coastal areas. Winter temperature rarely drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit and rarely freezes at night. Balance of the year temperatures are in the 70 to 90 degree range daytime, and evenings are cool to below 60 degrees.

 

Housing

Property values range from $150,000 to $2 million, with the average around $400,000. More than 75% are owner occupied.

 

Schools

 

Altadena schools are part of the Pasadena Unified School District. In Altadena, we have seven public primary and elementary schools and one junior high school. High schools are located in the Pasadena, close to Altadena's borders. Pasadena City College is also close by. Pasadena Unified District Offices are located at 351 S. Hudson, Pasadena, CA.
